Pandora Jewelry Review: Giant Fashion Jewlery Brand is a Newcomer to Lab Grown Diamonds
Pandora is a great place to buy a lab grown diamond engagement ring if design, ethical sourcing and price sit atop your list of priorities.
This guide aims to provide comprehensive information to assist consumers in making informed purchase decisions. We carefully analyze every diamond jewelry and diamond engagement ring retailer to deliver the best advice on how to optimize value and where to get the most for your money. Our goal is to organize and present all the things that consumers should know before buying. We writes these articles personally (never with AI) and we update them regularly based upon our understanding only an insider would know. Our Editor has spent four decades as a global leader in the diamond jewelry industry having led six wholesale and retail jewelry companies, been a select client of DeBeers and a pioneer in the birth of lab grown diamonds. His family has been in the diamond business for over a century.
Purchasing a diamond or diamond engagement ring is a significant investment and can be intimidating and even frightening. Consumers often worry about making informed decisions and finding trustworthy retailers. When purchasing a product with which one is unfamiliar, it is important to invest the time to get educated on both the product, and the sellers of that product. A diamond engagement ring will symbolize a lifetime commitment and is a permanent display to friends, family and colleagues. The diamond, ring design, quality and the craftsmanship must meet or exceed all expectations. All data referenced in these reviews are as of the date of the review, we are not responsible for updating information as prices change constantly. Also, we are not compensated to write these reviews as they are independent of any given retailer or brand.
Summary of Findings
Pandora Jewelry was the very first major diamond brand to make the ethical sourcing of diamonds their guiding principle. On May 4, 2021 they announced that they would stop using mined diamonds and would only be offering lab grown diamonds in all their designs and styles. Two years later the change was recognized by Fast Company Magazine as the winner of their World Changing Ideas Award. Pandora has for several decades reigned as the undisputed global leader in innovative yet accessible styling and design for fashion fine jewelry. With the addition of accessibly priced lab grown diamonds, Pandora has expanded their offering to include diamond wedding bands and diamond engagement ring jewelry. With 2023 sales in excess of $4bn, over 600 million customer visits annually worldwide and an unmatched culture of design, the addition of diamond engagement rings to the Pandora brand is destined to have a huge impact on the category.

Pandora Jewelry Company Overview
Pandora Review 2025: World’s Largest Ethically Sourced Jewelry Brand and recent entrant into Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings, Wedding Bands and Jewelry
This in-depth review of Pandora examines and evaluates its history as an industry leader in sustainability, ethical sourcing, quality and trend setting design. We will discuss its unique positioning as the world’s largest, best recognized and most trusted jewelry brand and why Pandora may be the brand of choice for lab grown diamond engagement rings.
Introduction to the Pandora Jewelry Brand
Pandora’s humble beginnings began in 1982 when Danish goldsmith Per Enevoldsen began traveling to Thailand in search of jewelry for his store in Copenhagen. Per soon shuttered his store and became a wholesaler of Thai jewelry for the Danish market. By 1987 Pandora had its own Danish design team and soon after its own factories in Thailand. In 2000 they took an age-old concept, the customizable charm bracelet, and organized and perfected a ground breaking selling system driven by a huge offering of inspired, feminine charm designs. They were still a small Danish brand when in 2003 they began wholesaling their charms to independent jewelers in the United States and Canada. Though these mostly silver charms still make up the bulk of their business, Pandora is so trusted by tens of millions of brand-loyal consumers, they have successfully expanded into many other jewelry categories.
Pandora Jewelry Brand Heritage, Background and Evolution
Pandora may be the fastest growing internationally recognized jewelry brand ever. From sales of just $5m in 2000 they surpassed sales of $1bn in 2010. Today sales are nearing $5bn across all six continents and they employ more than 37,000 people.
Our Editor remembers when Pandora first entered the North American market. Charm bracelets had been around for years. He recalled his sister having one in the 1960s and his father coming home with a different charm each birthday or celebratory moment. Charms were low price point, cheaply made ornaments for girls in middle school and maybe junior high school. It was not only a fragmented business but had no marketing or consistent themes attached to it. And there was no selling system–no upscale and enticing way for a jewelry retailer to present inexpensive silver charms alongside diamonds, gold and watches without cheapening their image. Per and his team at Pandora solved three problems that uncorked and consolidated the charm business.
The first was the selling system they offered independent jewelers. Pandora offered an elegant, in-showcase display with all the bracelets and all the charms cleanly, clearly and beautifully presented. Though it was the least expensive item in the showcase Pandora was often the most luxurious display in a jeweler’s store. The second was the design and quality. Thailand was and is one of the best places in the world to manufacture high end jewelry of the finest quality. Combining this with the long history of design excellence that defines the small nation of Denmark, Pandora produced amazingly beautiful and well crafted charms. The third was the marketing. Pandora knew their customer and knew how to talk to…him. Yes, though charm bracelets are nearly 100% worn by girls and now young women, as much as 70% of their purchasers were men. Fathers, grandfathers, uncles and boyfriends might have made up most of those men. And though there were some self and gift purchases by girls and young women, I speculate mothers, grandmothers, siblings and best friends made up much of the balance. No other brand had ever focused on this customer cohort, at this accessible price and created a globally recognized brand with strong international distribution.
The greatest business challenge for any jewelry store is customer traffic: How can a local independent jeweler get people to walk into the store? Until 2003, there was only one brand that guaranteed customer traffic: Rolex. And though a Rolex customer might return to the store once every 18 months and might buy a diamond, the Pandora customer kept coming back month after month. This provided the retailer with the opportunity to form a trusting relationship with the Pandora customer and gave them the inside track in selling watches, diamonds, gold chain and all the other categories in his store. No other jewelry item ever has been able to generate and sustain this level of repeated customer visits. Each Pandora bracelet holds as many as 15 charms and many customers own several bracelets. Pandora’s design innovation, incredible quality and sustained marketing presence had never been done in the fine jewelry market and has never been matched.
Our Editor recalls an exasperated conversation with the leadership at Kay jewelers / Jareds about their growing dependency on Pandora. By 2015 there were actual Pandora ‘shop-in-shops’ within most Jared stores, and Pandora’s $2.47m in global sales had surpassed Jared’s sales of $2.1bn. Jared tried to duplicate the styling and launch their own house brand, but could never catch up to the brand recognition and consumer appeal of the original Pandora.
Having used the existing distribution network of established retail jewelers to build their brand recognition in America, Pandora started opening their own stores in the United States and Canada. Jared and Pandora went their separate ways. Today Pandora has nearly 500 stores and Jared’s less than half that number.
In every survey that company commissioned, Pandora emerged as the most trusted jewelry brand in America–and the survey included the iconic Tiffany brand. We cannot over state the importance of this achievement. Pandora has earned the trust of tens of millions of jewelry shoppers. Though the exact number of individual customers is not public information, the company has shared that in 2020 Pandora had more than 30 million unique customers in their loyalty program; and in 2022 they reported over 600 million customer visits since 1982; and in 2024 they reported having sold 113 million pieces of jewelry. Millions and millions of jewelry customers trust this brand like no other. With the invention of accessibly priced lab grown diamonds, many of those customers would come to trust Pandora for the purchase of their diamond engagement rings and wedding jewelry.
Though Pandora’s sales are still primarily in the charm bracelet category, with 43 years of satisfied customers many brand loyalists have been open to expanding their affinity to the brand to include necklaces and rings. Pandora quickly understood that the much lower price of lab grown diamonds would allow them to enter the diamond engagement ring category. After a brief test in the U.K. Pandora began selling lab grown diamond engagement rings worldwide in August of 2022.
Pandora Jewelry Product Range and Quality
Pandora Diamond Rings and Jewelry
Pandora has historically limited the placement of mined diamonds in its jewelry designs. Part of this may be attributed to the brand’s longstanding commitment to sustainability. Throughout its history Pandora has enforced their own Responsible Supplier Program to prevent the use of conflict diamonds in their jewelry. In their first Ethics report as far back as 2013 they required all their mined diamond suppliers to print the following on every invoice:

Mined diamonds were in fact a very small portion of the gem stones utilized in the styles and designs of Pandora’s jewelry. This is largely because the lower price points of Pandora charms and jewelry have not allowed for the broad use of diamonds in their designs. The advent of lab grown diamonds that are a fraction of the cost of mined for the highest quality changed everything. By incorporating lab grown diamonds into their assortment Pandora could satisfy a demand for the world’s finest gems into the world’s largest jewelry brand without compromising their values nor shattering their historically accessible price points. By August 2022, the company could proudly assert that every piece from Pandora Lab-Grown Diamonds collections were crafted with diamonds grown, cut and polished with 100% renewable energy, and set in jewelry crafted with 100% recycled silver or gold. It was no surprise when, in 2023, Pandora launched three new collections of lab grown diamond jewelry ranging in price from $200 to $4,000, which is still affordable relative to mined diamond jewelry, and competitive with lab-grown diamond offerings from other brands.
Pandora Values
What has always defined Pandora and contributed immensely to its success as a brand is their authenticity and unwavering commitment to their values. Pandora were longstanding members of the Responsible Jewelry Council, an industry body dedicated to ethical and sustainable practices. The RJC was established in 2005 to promote sustainable jewelry amid such controversies as blood diamonds. They have 1500 worldwide members, including the state-owned Russian diamond company, Alrosa, considered the world’s largest diamond producer by carats. When Russia invaded Ukraine and the RJC refused to suspend the Russian company’s membership and Responsible Business Certification, Pandora resigned. Their CEO, Alexander Lacik, explained that ,”Pandora cannot in good faith be a member of an association that does not share our values”. Shortly after Pandora’s leadership on this issue, Richemont brands Cartier, Montblanc, Piaget and Van Cleef & Arpels also submitted their resignations.
Our Editor spent nearly four decades in the mined diamond business but left in part as he learned more about the legacy of mined diamonds and the many loopholes within the Kimberly Process and organizations like the Responsible Jewelry Council. His early involvement in lab grown diamonds was largely driven as an effort at personal redemption. He believes that in our efforts to perpetually improve the enforcement of conflict free and sustainable diamond mining and trading we must be ever vigilant and relentless. The Kimberly Process was established in 2003 and the Responsible Jewelry Council was founded in 2005. As an industry, little if anything more has been done in the ensuing decades and neither organization has any means of enforceability or accountability in their charter. Pandora, however, is a brand that has demonstrated a relentless commitment to morals, ethics and sustainability. Ignoring the porous, virtue-signaling and green-washing of various councils and processes of the broader jewelry trade, they have pioneered in creating their own system for creating an accountable method for doing good and doing better. Pandora has directly linked their own ethical performance with their own profits. In their recent capital raise, Pandora has created a unique bond structure whereby they will incur financial penalties if they fail to uphold their own corporate values and clearly articulated goals. The EUR500million sustainability linked Eurobond they issued in May of 2024 is unprecedented and unique in that Pandora will police and penalize itself if the company fails to comply with their stated ethics, values and sustainable objectives according to specified KPI’s. In this 26 page document Pandora details how third party verification and outside auditors will report on the success or failure of their performance and whether financial penalties will be incurred. This is absolutely incredible leadership by a major brand that is authentic in its values. It should be a beacon for the entire diamond industry, if the diamond world truly cared about anything but short term profits. Financial markets applauded their leadership: The EUR500million bond was oversubscribed with investor demand peaking at EUR1.7billion in a single day. We rejoice at seeing nice guys finishing first. And jewelry buyers worldwide clearly do as well.
Pandora’s history of corporate social responsibility is in the brand’s DNA and goes back at least as far as 2010, when they published their first CSR report. Perhaps it goes back further than 2010, but that was before Pandora became a public company so that information is not readily available.
Buying a Diamond from Pandora
It is essential that a consumer come to understand the difference between price and value when buying a diamond. All four C’s (color, clarity, cut and carat size – see our section on certification below) impact the price of a diamond and must be considered before determining value. Quality of craftsmanship is also critical. Integrity and trustworthiness of the jeweler, however, are of paramount concern when spending thousands of dollars buying a diamond. As a buyer, you can be confident that Pandora’s diamonds are conflict free, by a far stricter definition of ‘conflict’, than most other diamond jewelers. They alone among major jewelers insist that.

Pandora’s Supplier Code of Conduct is a remarkable 26 page document that stands out for its humanity and requirement for third party audit of any claims made by a supplier. There are detailed and specific pages on their website explaining how Pandora lab grown diamonds have a carbon footprint that is only 5% of the carbon footprint of traditionally mined and polished natural diamonds. There is yet another 29 page document that specifically addresses the testing and methodology to achieve this remarkable number. Here is a critical excerpt relating to the carbon footprint of Pandora’s diamond engagement rings:

For the consumer to whom sustainability and human rights are important, Pandora is the gold standard of transparency and accountability. They don’t just make claims; they enforce them.
Drawing on over four decades of experience, our Editor deeply respects Pandora’s sincere and authentic commitment to improving the standards surrounding diamond sourcing and jewelry manufacturing. Pandora’s trail blazing approach to creating values-based jewelry is revolutionary. At the same time their brand positioning as an accessible, design-first, premium brand is extended to everything they do–from how they source their diamonds to the box in which it is delivered.

All of Pandora’s lab grown diamonds in their engagement rings are carefully curated and the larger sizes are both internally and independently laboratory certified.

A Pandora diamond engagement ring is not only a declaration of love but also a statement of the shared values between a bride and her partner. As the largest jewelry brand in the world, Pandora is a name both trusted and respected by discerning buyers and brides worldwide. In our next section we will reveal the Pandora customer experience when they first behold a Pandora diamond that sparkles with explosive brilliance, in a true designer ring at a market leading price.
Summary of Pandora Lab Grown Diamonds

Pandora Jewelry Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings
Pandora remains the only major jewelry company in the world to exclusively offer only lab grown diamonds and not carry a single mined diamond. But as a designer jewelry company, they sell complete engagement rings and do not offer the ability to pick your specific diamond for your ring style. In fact they advertise they will deliver within a broad range of F-J color and VS2 or better for their diamond rings. There can be a significant price difference between the top and the bottom of this range. But Pandora is such an ethically based company the consumer need not worry. We noted in their reviews several customers sharing that the diamond shipped to them was not at the bottom of the range specified. In fact the clarity seemed to be at the very top end of the range and the carat weight well above the minimum. For example, in this review, a Canadian customer indicates the clarity and weight well above the minimum:

And this customer reports getting an Internally flawless quality:

or this happy customer:

But even when we compare the minimum diamond quality of Pandora lab grown diamond engagement rings with major diamond centric brands, Pandora’s prices are extremely good if not the very best we found. For example the 2ct diamond engagement ring mentioned in the three reviews above was advertised for $1,485 on May 24, 2025.

If, for comparative purposes, we assume the minimum size and quality of 2.00, J VS2 and Excellent cut for the diamond, Pandora is clearly offering the best value of any of them–and that’s before factoring in the often bigger and better diamond they shipped!
The least expensive J VS2 2ct lab grown diamond we found on Brilliant Earth cost $2,300 – and that was just for the diamond!

The least expensive setting we could find–a simple solitaire nothing like the elegant design on Pandora, was priced at $650

Which brought the total cost of the ring to almost DOUBLE the price of the Pandora 2ct diamond engagement ring at $2,950

Our experience at nationwide jeweler Zales was similar. The least expensive J VS2 2ct diamond on their website was priced at $1,980

We selected the least expensive solitaire setting on the site and came up with a total cost of $3,379, more than double our elegant Pandora ring

Even if we revert to the full $1,980 price of the Pandora ring, it is clear that they are offering the best value of these three major jewelers. And the styling of their ring is truly designer–not a solitaire available anywhere.
In the 1ct version of a solitaire the Pandora price is equally compelling. As we stated above, unfortunately, Pandora only offers one quality minimum, J VS2. But the value is so spectacular it is hard to resist. This 1ct solitaire has a regular retail price of $740.

We compared it to this H VS2 solitaire at Helzberg. We know that Pandora may ship H colors but even if they only ship a J their solitaire ring is almost a third the cost!

Our Editor and team were early pioneers in the validation and acceptance of lab grown diamonds in 2017. Over the last eight years, the technology for growing gem quality diamonds has improved, expanded and consolidated in the low cost centers of India. This has resulted in the price of lab grown diamonds coming down enormously. It would not surprise us to see Pandora expanding their lab grown diamond offering into more styles and even larger diamond centers as the cost of lab grown diamonds deflates. Pandora seems uniquely positioned to grow and expand its share of the lab grown diamond jewelry market.
Pandora Jewelry Diamond Engagement Ring Limitations
The current limitations of the Pandora diamond engagement ring category are driven by the fact that they are neither a diamond company nor a conventional retail jeweler. The consumer cannot select an individual diamond or a different quality. There is one quality range offered and that is it. You are not buying a diamond: you are buying Pandora.
Similarly they are not an engagement ring store. They do not have countless styles from which to choose or customize. In fact, the entire lab grown diamond engagement ring category has a total of 35 rings. These are available in diamond sizes no larger than 2ct and in14kt white or yellow gold only. And all of the rings are essentially derivatives of only 7 unique designs.
For the Pandora enthusiast who loves the brand and likes these styles, there is tremendous beauty and value to be had. The prices we surveyed were nothing short of amazing. And as every diamond is independently certified by a respected gemological laboratory, the IGI, there is no concern about proper representation of quality. We hope Pandora will expand their offering to include more styles and a range of diamond qualities and sizes. And we feel they should offer free ring resizing, as is the industry standard for full stack jewelers and jewelry stores.
Pandora Lab Grown Diamond Jewelry
Pandora Designs
Pandora designers have created an exceptionally beautiful and delicate collection of lab grown diamond earrings, necklaces and bracelets. We fell in love with this 1/2ct snake chain with a heart shaped clasp:

It is rare to find a bracelet of this beauty and quality of manufacture, but even rarer to find a jeweler that offers seven different sizes to accommodate any woman or bridal party:

It should come as no surprise that the brand that sells more bracelets than any single company in the world understands to offer so many different sizes. And the price of $390 for a half carat of lab grown diamonds is truly an exceptional value.
Pandora Quality
We don’t usually endorse silver in the manufacture of fine jewelry, preferring the harder and often more durable choice of gold or platinum. But our Editor has broad and deep experience with silver jewelry manufacturing in Thailand. For a time he served as North American President and Global Managing Director of Jewelry for Danish luxury brand Georg Jensen, founded in 1904. Jensen also worked primarily in silver and manufactured all of their jewelry in their factory in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Jensen had first established their Thailand factory in 1998 and expanded it to include 100% of their production in 2003. Pandora followed suit, opening their factory in Chiang Mai in 2017. Relations between the two Danish jewelers were warm, friendly and very open. Our Editor has worked with many Thailand jewelry factories since the early 1990s, has been there many times, and visited frequently during his tenure at Georg Jensen. Because we know the strength of Thai manufacturing and the especially capable Pandora factories in Chiang Mai and Gemopolis near Bangkok, we can unreservedly assert the phenomenal quality of Pandora’s jewelry including silver jewelry.
Pandora Diamond Certificates and the 4 C's
The diamond can be the most expensive part of any diamond engagement ring purchase so it is important to take the time to research and learn about the 4C’s. Our Editor explains in detail how to understand the IGI report shown below.

Date
The date the diamond was examined and certified by the gemologists at GIA. This is important for consumers because if a diamond is old inventory, there is probably something undesirable or substandard about it.
Report Number
This is the individual GIA certificate number unique to this diamond. It has also been microscopically laser inscribed on the side of the diamond. It does not impact the refraction or shine and will not be visible without at least 10x magnification. This is important because it can protect buyers from diamond fraud or substitution, which, though rare, is a risk when repairing a ring at an unethical jeweler. The number is also logged on the global database of GIA certificates, providing a permanent record of your diamond. This can prove very important should a consumer need to make an insurance claim and cannot locate the printed certificate received when the purchase was made.
Shape
The outline of the diamond when viewed from the top down, while the cut is defined by the pattern of the facet arrangement. Most buyers prefer a round also known as a brilliant cut diamond. Other shapes are collectively referred to as fancies. The most popular of these today are oval, pear and emerald. Historically marquise and princess cuts were also popular,
Measurements
The diamond’s dimensions are in millimeters. For a round diamond it is the minimum and maximum diameter and the depth. Non round diamonds will use the length, width and depth. This is important information a buyer should learn and understand as these impact the brightness, fire or light of the diamond.
Carat Weight
The weight as measured in carats to the nearest 1/100th of a carat. A carat is equal to 0.2grams.
Color
Describes the degree to which a yellow hue is present. Color is graded on a scale from D-Z though most gem quality diamonds are within the D-J colors. D is the whitest and by K even an untrained eye can detect the yellow hue. This will be an important consideration for buyers as prices of a D color will be higher than a J, particularly for a natural diamond. The tradeoff a consumer will often have to make is between color and carat weight.
Clarity
Describes the degree to which natural inclusions or blemishes are visible under 10x magnification.
Cut
Determines the light reflecting properties, also known as the fire, scintillation or brilliance of the diamond’s appearance. In the opinion of our founder, cut is the most important of the 4C’s because even the finest diamond if poorly cut will not refract light optimally and thus will emit inferior fire and brilliance.
Polish
Polish describes the smoothness of a diamond's facets. A high-quality polish will leave little to no scratches and slightly optimizes for maximum brilliance.
Symmetry
Symmetry describes the degree to which a diamond's facets are mathematically aligned to emit maximum light. A symmetrical diamond emits high levels of fire and brilliance.
Fluorescence
Fluorescence causes diamonds to emit a soft, bluish glow when exposed to UV light. The Fluorescence grade describes the color, and strength of color when a diamond is graded under UV light. The founder prefers diamonds with no fluorescence.
Conclusion on Pandora Diamonds
Most first-time buyers do not understand how to evaluate a diamond. With the simplified, single quality solution of Pandora diamonds, they don’t have to. The experts at Pandora have selected a range of diamonds all of which qualify as eye clean and near colorless. The IGI has substantiated those qualities independently. With so much to focus on when planning a wedding, some customers may welcome the ease of buying their diamond from a trusted brand like Pandora
Pandora’s commitment to minimizing the environmental and ethical impact of diamond production sets them far above any other seller of diamonds we surveyed. For the diamond buyer to whom this is important, there may be no better choice than Pandora lab grown diamonds. More than any other producer, brand or retailer of diamonds, Pandora has been both an innovator and a leader in setting new standards.
Pandora Customer Service and Support
Pandora offers a 30-day return for refund on all their jewelry. With over 1,400 points of sale in North America this is more convenient than having to pack and mail your ring. Their warranty is only for two years, whereas traditional jewelers often offer lifetime warranties on manufacturers' defects. Pandora has no trade up policy for diamonds. Whereas most diamond jewelers will offer free ring resizing post purchase, Pandora does not. The quality, jewelry manufacturing capabilities and value of Pandora set them apart from most every jeweler online or in stores, but the warranty, trade up and after market service is that of a premium charm company and not of a diamond jeweler.

Pandora Jewelry Review Conclusion
In conclusion, Pandora is a great place to buy a lab grown diamond engagement ring if design, ethical sourcing and price sit atop your list of priorities. They have the most rigorous environmental standards of any diamond engagement ring jeweler. Their engagement ring styles are unique and feature designs not available anywhere else. Their jewelry designs are pieces of art, innovative and amazingly feminine and beautiful. And the quality of everything they sell is excellent. For the diamond engagement ring buyer who does not wish to spend weeks learning about diamonds or sorting through thousands of designs, Pandora is the very best simple, safe and price conscious choice. Having 1,400 points of sale in North America is a feature and a benefit no other jeweler can match. Pandora is a top choice for purchasing lab grown diamond engagement rings and jewelry.
